 MWNC UMPIRING – LEARNING, GROWING & SUPPORTING OUR GAME 

At Maryland Wallsend Netball Club, umpiring plays a vital role in the development of our players and the success of our club. Umpires are an essential part of every game, helping ensure matches are played fairly, safely, and in the true spirit of netball.

As players move through the age divisions, many will begin their umpiring journey as part of their team umpire duty requirements. Umpiring not only helps develop a deeper understanding of the rules of the game but also builds confidence, leadership skills, decision-making abilities, communication, and resilience both on and off the court.  

MWNC strongly encourages all players, parents, and members interested in learning more about umpiring to take advantage of the education and development opportunities provided through the Newcastle Netball Association. NNA offers a variety of umpiring pathways, including rules education sessions, development programs, clarification workshops, practical support, and accreditation opportunities to help umpires progress through their netball journey.  

Whether you are stepping onto the court with a whistle for the very first time or working towards higher umpiring qualifications, there is support available every step of the way. Umpiring is a fantastic way to stay involved in the game, contribute to your club, and continue building valuable skills within our netball community.
